Malena Quartet

The Malena Quartet plays a mixture of original compositions, free improvisations and jazz standards. Though María Elena’s originals read like a bouquet of wild flowers, lush harmonies, flowing melodies, and bubbling underscoring of drums and bass weave through every composition. This group is influenced by established masters of their craft from Dexter Gordon, Cannonball Adderly, Joe Henderson, Rodney Whitaker and Miguel Zenón to Thundercat, Kneebdy, and Taylor McFerrin.
